Are You Walking In God’s Favor?

Walking in God’s Favor: I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous, and you will be a blessing to others. Genesis 12:2

God’s Favor is Walking in Purpose, With No Loss of Faith

Living a  life in Level 3 Stewardship of Surplus is a great place to be. Ardella and I have walked through this process of learning how to put our faith in God and not the blessings He provides..ie (Wealth, Education, Career, Good Health and Successful Children)

When You Begin Walking In God’s Favor You Focus On Hope

Level 3 Stewards have discovered how you walk in faith when experiencing life’s struggles and the storms of life. Faith is your  ability to walk past your current reality, while anticipating a fabulous future. Level 3 Stewards recognize God is the Creator or Owner and you are only a steward or caretaker.

To walk in God’s favor you must develop the inner discipline it takes to delay immediate gratification by surrendering lordship of your life to God. The Level 3 Stewards  can say “no” to the person in the mirror and “yes” to the will of God. Level 3 Stewards first seek and desire God’s blessings to shower down over their lives.

Hope Walks Through Disappointments, God’s Favor Leaps Over Them

Level 3 Stewards learn how to wisely look around the corner and plan for the storms of life or 5D’s (Disaster, Disability, Downsizing, Deployment and Death). You openly share how to prepare for the storms of life  or the 5D’s with your family, friends and meaningful others in your community.

Level 3 Stewards acknowledge that it has been God who has brought you financially to this point in your lives, and you remember where you were in the years past.  Your daily prayer is ” O Mighty God, teach me to be Your faithful servant”.  Be encourage to live faithful to God and to walk in His favor. Your life can become a great example in your world of what a Mighty God can do in the lives of His people.

Prayer of Blessing: Lord teach us to walk in faith & favor.

How Do You Personally Define Wealth?

Walking in God’s Favor:  And, of course, it is very good if a man has received wealth from the Lord and the good health to enjoy it. To enjoy your work and to accept your lot in life—that is indeed a gift from God. Ecclesiastes 5:19 TLB

Wealth is having more then you need, and wanting less than you have.

Our definition of wealth is holistic and different than most people. We define wealth as certain things money cannot buy such as good health, loving relationships, peace of mind, creative abilities, wisdom, freedom and a spirit-led life.

Having a fat bank account,  strong investment portfolio, or family trust fund, doesn’t necessary mean you are truly wealthy. If you have a million dollars net worth and you are always worrying about losing it or someone trying to scam your money, you aren’t truly wealthy.  You have a scarcity mentality.

You can truly only enjoy your wealth, if you are in good health.

The first truly wealthy person I was able to observe up close and personal over the years was Ardella’s father the late Howard T. Williams. This barrel chest, quick to laugh man was always willing to share a smile and words of wisdom with anyone who crossed his path.

Mr. Williams was a loyal employee for  Chrysler Corporation for 32 years and valued long-term relationships. He was married to the same woman for 42 years. He gave back to his community by serving as a member of the Detroit School Board for 13 years.

Mr. Williams saved money in a college fund for all (5) of his children.  Paid off his home mortgage early, avoided debt & credit cards, and had an emergency fund for the unexpected. On the day of his death Mr. Williams had a will and his burial arrangements in place. He was a man ahead of his times and a great example to me of personal stewardship.

Wealth is like health, you only learn it’s true value when you lose it.

In the world’s economy it says wealth is measured primary by material possessions and the things money can buy. In God’s economy true wealth is measure by certain things you cannot necessarily see and by certain things you cannot necessarily buy.

Prayer of Blessings: Lord, give us health to obtain true wealth.

Do You Love God Or Only The Blessings God Gives?

Walking In God’s Favor: The Lord will open up the heavens. That’s where He stores His riches. He will send rain on your land at just the right time. He’ll bless everything you do. You will lend money to many nations. But you won’t have to borrow from any of them. The Lord your God will make you leaders, not followers. Pay attention to His commands that I’m giving you today. Be careful to follow them. Then you will always be on top. You will never be on the bottom. Deuteronomy 28: 12,13 NIRV

Level I Stewards Walk By Faith And Not By Sight

North America  is one of the richest countries on the planet. Mel Gipson, movie actor/producer,  earned over 350 million dollars from the movie The Passion of  Christ. Oprah Winfrey is one of the richest women of color in the world.

Such enormously powerful income can support lavish lifestyles, magnificent mansions, awesome automobiles, exotic vacations, as well as unlimited shopping for designer clothes and luxury personal items. The media is more than willing to make known to you the lifestyle of the rich and famous.

Your Love For God Can Sometimes Pivot To Only The Blessings God Gives

Unfortunately, many of you believe that anything less than  excessive luxury is equivalent to poverty. If your goal is the Hollywood style of prosperity, more than likely that is something you will probably never reach. The bling bling life style of professional athletes and recording artists influence many of you, young and old to get rich, or die trying.

Level I Stewards believe there is a difference between riches and wealth. You can become rich without God in your life. You can easily find unethical Wall Street Bankers, greedy CEO’s, drug dealers and pornography pimps who are rich. That’s because riches are material possessions.

Level I Stewards Measure Wealth By Who You Are Not What You Have

On the other hand wealth is obtained through spiritual wisdom, character development, and the observance of Godly principles. You should not worry or focus all your time on getting rich. But instead, focus on loving God with all your heart, with all your mind, and with all your soul. It is He who gives you the power to obtain wealth.

God will take care of your needs according to His riches in glory.  God loves you more that anyone, and His plan for your life is greater than anything you could ever dream or imagine.

Prayer of Blessing: Lord, thank you for an abundant life.

Are You Constantly Connected To The Source?

Walking in God’s Favor: I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord. Plans to prosper you and not harm you; plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)

Prayer Is The Level 4 Steward’s Link That Connects Us To The Source

Daily communion with God in prayer is the source of power and purpose in the Level 4 Steward’s life. In Him we move, live, and have our being. The challenge for Level 4 Stewardship is the ability to stay connected when you can have, do, and be anything you desire.

We agree with Barack Obama, the first African-American U.S. President and former community organizer when he says “Focusing your life solely on making a buck shows a certain poverty of ambition. It asks too little of yourself. Because it’s only when you hitch your wagon to something larger than yourself that you realize your true potential.”

Get Connected To The Source

Level 4 Stewards have more opportunities than ever. It has taken Black Americans  in the United States 400 years of prayer, courage, and sacrifice to get us where we are today. Staying connected to God gives the  Level 4 Steward a vision that will positively impact many lives and make the world a better place to live.

Level 4 Stewards understand the importance of time and managing your time wisely. Staying connected to God in prayer is always the first priority in Level 4 Stewardship. A Level 4 Steward is aware that the choices you make today will impact future generations, so staying connected to the Source is critical to the success of your life’s mission.

Everything Good That Comes Into Our Lives, Comes From A Connection With the Source

The Level 4 Steward’s thought process is to allow God lordship over your will, dreams and ambition. God’s blessings in the lives of the Level 4 Stewards will be a blessing in the lives of  others as well. God empowers the lives of Level 4 Stewards so they are an example of His love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control.

Connectivity to God is the source of all blessings and love. Connectivity to people is how those blessings of love flow from the Source into the lives of others.  Level 4 Stewards understand the spiritual process of connectivity.

Prayer of Blessing: Lord, help me stay connected to You.

Are You A Generous Giver?

Walking in God’s Favor: But since you excel in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in the love we have kindled in you —see that you also excel in this grace of giving. II Corinthians 8:7 NIV

Level 4 Stewardship Greatness Is In What They Give, Not What The Have

As we celebrate Women History Month we shine the spotlight on women who are a positive ray of hope by giving their time, encouragement and wisdom to others.

Among my family of orgin (Michael), our sister Vonseal’s life illuminated a spirit of hope. If you had big dreams or goals, she would become your biggest cheerleader. Even when others gave up on you, Vonseal continued to pour love, encouragement, and wisdom into you. She was a generous giver.

I can personally say, having Vonseal as a sibling was a tremendous blessing in my life. She supported and encouraged me (as a young punk kid) to become the first male in our family to graduate high school and the first person in our family to earn a college degree.

She was a tremendous blessing to our family, to a community of friends, and the world is a better place because she passed through it. Vonseal was a generous giver of her financially resources and time.  She was a generous giver of her love and hope to her family and friends.

When You Give Hope, Anything Is Possible

In our book  “Stewardship of Wealth” we describe Level 4 Stewards as generous givers. They are generous in giving of their time, they are generous in sharing of their talents, and they are generous in giving of their financial resources. Many of you have people in your lives or know someone who embodies the spirit of generous giving.

Ardella and I can personally acknowledge, whatever we give generously and cheerfully to God, He multiplies it back to us in so many ways. Jesus said in Luke 6:38 “Give and it will be given to you. A measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap”. We are passionate about sharing our Financial Peace journey with meaningful others. Give More To The World, Than The World Gives To You

Level 4 stewards are not only generous givers, they are motivated out of their love for God and for people. The heart of the faithful steward says, “All that I have is Yours, Lord.” When you choose to give because of your love for God, He pours His favor all over your life. If you are seeking God’s favor all over your life, begin giving generously from a place of love.

As faithful stewards, you are examples all day, everyday, no excuses of God’s sustainable love for you. God loves you so much, He generously gave up His Son. His Son, Jesus Christ, loves you so much, He generously gave up His life. What are you willing to generously give up to make a difference in the lives of others and the world?

Prayer of Blessing: Lord empower us with Your spirit of generous giving.

Do You Have The Heart of A Level 4 Steward?

Walking in God’s Favor: Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy.  Let them do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to give, willing to share. 1 Timothy 6:17,18 NKJV

Level 4 Stewards Must Become Good Servants

To think like a Level 4 steward requires a change of heart. A Level 4 steward thinks more of how you can serve others rather than yourself. Once you have acquired a servant’s heart, you no longer focus so much on your own needs, but turn your heart to the needs of others.

I clearly remember walking into my office years ago, as a millennial insurance agent, disappointed for not obtaining the sales goals I had planned for the week. I knocked on Mr. Hundley Batts’  door and asked if I could speak to him for a moment. “Mr.  Batts”, I said, “I have been out selling all day long and  cannot find anyone to sell insurance to.”

Hundley Batts replied, “That’s your problem, Son.  Find people you can serve.” Those five words, ” Find people you can serve.” changed my whole entire paradigm on how I operate my business. These days, eighty percent of my business comes from referral business of people who value my time, business & insurance intelligence, and the value added services we offer.

Level 4 Stewardship Is Beyond You, If Serving Is Beneath You

Level 4 Stewardship is one of the best ways to describe the heart of a servant. Many faithful stewards begin their spiritual discovery as servants, however they end up as  celebrities. They become addicted to the spotlight, unaware that constantly being in the lime light can blind you.

There are four areas of life the Level 4 Steward will primarily focus:

#1 How you care for your body(temple)

#2 How you invest your time

#3 How you develop your talents or gifts

#4 How you manage your treasure (financial assets)

Level 4 Stewards Serve Those They Lead

Michael J. Vance and Hundley Batts

This is a holistic approach to serving. God wants all of you – not just little pieces of you.  Level 4 Stewards accept the truth that God owns it all, and we are only caretakers, managers, and apprentices . They think like servants, not like owners.

Can you be trusted with wealth, power, and social capital? The heart of the Level 4 Steward is in giving service to God. Level 4 Stewards make sure their lives honor God, and their life work leaves the planet a much better place to live.

Prayer of Blessing: Lord, empower us to live as faithful stewards, serving others.

Does Love Motivate Your Decisions?

Walking in God’s favor: Love God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength and with all your mind and love your neighbor as yourself. Luke 20:27 NIV

God gives you people to love and things to use, not things to love and people to use.

We have discovered in our spiritual journey that God’s nature is love. He only desires what is best for our good and His glory. He gives us each the freedom to discover His loving nature. He allows each of us freedom of choice to experience His love.

Our Creator has a plan and purpose for each of our lives. He is calling each of us to a higher level of stewardship. I love what the book of Jeremiah says in chapter 29 verse 11. “I know the plans I have for you, declare the Lord. Plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans for hope and a future”. That is the kind of loving God we choose to serve and love. We know He has everything under control. When we learned to let go and let God, that’s when things started happening.

Love is being seen, known, and loved as the person you really are.

I remember when I began the process of looking for a life partner. I prayed that the woman that` I planned to marry would be someone who truly loved God. That she would be someone I could spiritually connect with. I was raised in a home where I observed my parents praying to God together, worshipping God together, and trusting in God together. That appeared to be a top priority in their relationship and I wanted that in mine.

I thank God everyday for bringing Ardella into my life. Every place I have allowed Ardella to touch in my life has turned to gold. I have prospered in my spiritual life, my family life, my financial life, and my professional life. Over the many years together, God has blessed our marriage, our family, and our lives as we continue to grow more in love with God as well as with each other.

If only you knew, how much God loves you. No one or nothing can change God’s Love for you.

We encourage and challenge each of you to make intimacy with God your top priority. God is faithful. He loves each of you with an unending love. There are no boundaries to his love for each of you.

Prayer of blessings: Lord, thank You for Your love.

Are You Willing To Grow To Your Highest Potential?

Walking in God’s favor: No prolonged infancies among us, please. We’ll not tolerate babes in the woods, small children who are an easy mark for impostors. God wants us to grow up, to know the whole truth and tell it in love—like Christ in everything. We take our lead from Christ, who is the source of everything we do. He keeps us in step with each other. His very breath and blood flow through us, nourishing us so that we will grow up healthy in God, robust in love. Ephesians 4:15-16 Message Bible

Step Out On Faith And Walk Into Your Destiny

The truth is, we all have areas in our lives that we need to grow in. Your area of growth is probably different from my area of growth. We must truthfully acknowledge our area of weakness and face it.

My truth is I waste  far too much time watching TV, surfing the internet and on social media.  After reading Rick Warren’s book “The Purpose Driven Life ” I was motivated to initiate 3 immediate changes in my life.

1. I  would begin to limit the amount of television, internet and social media I consumed.

2. I would spend the best time of my day in prayer, reading my bible or something positive.

3. I would release my spiritual side and invest time growing my inner man.

Discover Who God Says You Are, Become That Person

My purpose was to seek the highest potential for my life. It has made an incredible difference. After making these 3 seemingly small changes, I have been motivated to write this blog, self-published several books with Ardella, and produced 3 Keys To A Healthy Marriage, an 8-Part Web Series for newly married couples. Our purpose is to share the goodness of God in our lives with our family, friends, and meaningful others.  I choose to invest my time and develop my talents wisely.

Level 4 Stewards are willing to do whatever it takes reach their highest potential. Are you willing to do your part? Yes, you have an extremely important role in your spiritual journey.  You are called for a moment like this in time. You are given unique gifts to develop over your lifetime and you have an assignment or  purpose that you have the potential to fulfill.

Prayer of blessing: Lord, teach us to become our best self.

Is Giving A Part Of Your Spiritual DNA?

Walking In God’s Favor: Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back. Luke 6:38 NLT

The Soul That Gives Gathers

Why does it feel so good deep down inside when you give? The Word of God says it is better to give than to receive. Giving is optional. You choose to give or not to give. When you choose to give, it touches the very essence of your soul and pleases God.

Level 4 stewards give wisely of their time, talents or spiritual gifts and their financial resources so that their choices will honor God.  They are so connected to the Source, that they have learned to set boundaries that helps them grow spiritually.

A Person’s True Wealth Is the Goodness They Give In The World

Is it possible to give too much time and energy pursuing material riches? Jesus the CEO of the universe tells the story of a business man who was prospering financially.

All his time and energies were preoccupied with how to manage his overflow. Can you imagine having so much wealth that you, your children,  your grandchildren, your great grandchildren and your great great grandchildren could not spend it all in a lifetime?

Jesus calls this business man a fool because he did not recognize his soul was bankrupt and his spiritual life was in debt. This obviously successful entrepreneur was blinded by his addiction for more and more wealth.

Your Giving Should Inspire Others To Give

We believe Bill Gates, Oprah Winfrey and Warren Buffet all recognize that stewardship is a matter of the soul. Where you spend you time, share your talents or spiritual gifts  and give your financial support tells the world what is important to you.

We personally believe that God blesses you so that you can be a blessing to others. We want to encourage you to make giving a part of your spiritual DNA today. You will be amazed at what God will grow in your life when you sow into the lives of meaningful  others. It’s a matter of the soul.

Prayer of Blessing: Lord we thank You for the spirit of giving.

Have You Made Saving A Top Priority?

Walking in God’s Favor: But don’t begin until you count the cost. For who would begin construction of a building without first getting estimates and then checking to see if he has enough money to pay the bills? Otherwise he might complete only the foundation before running out of funds. And then how everyone would laugh! Luke 14:28-29 TLB

To Enjoy Your Golden Years Tomorrow; Save More Today

You must begin with the end in mind. If you plan to become faithful stewards of your wealth in this life you must be willing to pay the price. You are going to have to develop the habit of saving.

Years ago, Ardella and I began planning to save a certain amount of money from our income so that we could have the flexibility to follow our dreams,  passions and opportunities in life during our golden years.

One of our passions is sharing real life experiences with newly married and engaged couples. We share practical tips we have learned in our own marriage and from other married couples like Les and Leslie Parrott www.lesandleslie.com who also enjoy their marriage and have a passion for mentoring married couples.

It’s Never Too Late To Pursuit Your Financial Dreams

Let’s face it, as you gracefully age, you generally have less energy and your health slowly begins to decline. As a result, you need to manage the amount of physical activity and maximize the results, so you don’t injure or prematurely kill yourself.  In other words, you have to work smarter not harder.

While you are young and healthy you must develop the practice of planning for your golden years. Otherwise, your golden years will not be so golden.  Many employers are no longer contributing or providing retirement plans for their employees. Therefore you must become personally proactive in saving and investing money for your golden years.

With that in mind, what is your plan? Do you have an emergency fund for the storms of life that are sure to come if you live long enough? Have you begun setting aside money for your golden years?

Practicing The Joseph Principle

The Joseph principle is the ability to look around the corner and anticipate life’s challenges you may or may not face one day.  In the Bible, Joseph wisely counseled Pharaoh in the book of Genesis to plan and prepare for the future.

And let them gather all the food of those good years that are coming and store up grain under the authority of  Pharaoh  and let them keep food in the cities. Then the food shall be as a reserve for the land for seven years of famine which shall be in the land of Egypt that the land may not perish during the famine.” Genesis 41:35,36  (NKJV)

Joseph was divinely given the principle of saving for the storms of life, and saved the entire Egyptian nation and his family.   There are many lessons you can learn and practice in your life from the Joseph principle. Most importantly; Begin with the end in mind.

Prayer of Blessing: Lord help us to plan wisely for our future.
